My research focuses on genetic variants of neurotransmitter transporters and receptors in psychiatric disorders.
In my master´s thesis project I functionally characterized genetic variants of the vesicular monoamine transporter 2 in depression, bipolar disorder, autism, ADHD and schizophrenia. My PhD project focused on developing a fluorescent biosensor-based method to study serotonin transport that can be used to evaluate the effect of drugs on genetic variants of the serotonin transporter. As a PostDoc I am studying genetic variants of the serotonin transporter and the trace amine-associated receptor 1.
