My main research is focused on marine microorganisms, microbial processes, and geomicrobiology, with a particular interest in anaerobic processes carried out by sulfate-, nitrate- and metal-reducing bacteria and methanogenic archaea. I am particularly interested in hydrocarbon microbiology, cultivation of hydrocarbon-degrading anaerobic microorganisms, and their physiology and biochemical mechanisms.
In my current position I am teaching Microbial Physiology and Identification to bachelor students. I have teaching expertise in General Microbiology, Marine Microbiology, Microbial Genetics & Genetic Engineering. I am actively involved in supervision and mentoring of bachelor, master and doctoral students.
