Welcome to more than 800 new students
On Wednesday, 25 August 2021, a multitude of new students started their studies at Aarhus University, of whom the Faculty of Natural Sciences welcomed more than 800.
It is a very special day when the new students make their entrance on campus for the first time, together with all the tutors. Excitement, joy and expectation fill the University Park and corridors around the entire campus.
"I'm delighted to welcome the new students to Natural Sciences. Here at the faculty, tutors and teaching staff are also ready to welcome you all, and they’ll do all they can to make sure that everyone enjoys the best possible start to their studies," says Kristine Kilså, vice-dean for education at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, and she continues:
"The first day is always special, but this year it is extra special, because for many young people last year was so dominated by the coronavirus, restrictions and limited social activity. With that in mind, it’s a particular joy to see all the new students gathered in the University Park and out at the departments, and to feel the wonderful atmosphere and the new energy that the new students bring with them."
More than seven thousand applicants have been offered a place on one of Aarhus University's Bachelor's programmes. This is slightly fewer than last year, when admissions were higher, and more student places were offered because of the coronavirus situation.
