Research in sustainability and climate change

The Faculty of Natural Sciences aims to help solve the major challenges facing society described in the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. We contribute through research and collaboration across the university, in the business community and in society.

The faculty is particularly strong in development, application and communication of basic sciences, including research into climate change and biodiversity. We have a special task to communicate scientific contexts and sustainable solutions to policy makers and the public in general.

We work closely with the other faculties at Aarhus University, as well as external stakeholders, and we are significantly engaged the university's interdisciplinary thematic centres that collaborate across the faculties and together with the business community to develop solutions among others within the circular bio-economy, materials, water, digitalisation, food and climate.

The centres are pivotal for the university's focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable solutions. By working across traditional disciplinary boundaries, and through partnerships with the business community, we can develop new, innovative and sustainable products, materials, types of energy and much more.
